Sermon Passages: Ephesians 4:29

God wants to radically affect how we talk! Those in Christ are called to put off the corrupting talk of our worldly, old self and the world around us and, instead, put on the godly speech possible as a new creation. Whatever the circumstance, we can choose to speak words that preserve and promote the truth, restore in a spirit of gentleness, and edify those to whom we speak.

Sermon Passages: Ephesians 4:1-3

Being "Agents of Peace" is made easier when we remember the truths of God's Word and our calling. Our calling is completely undeserved, so we must walk with humility and gentleness; our calling is a guaranteed process, so we can walk with patience for all; and our calling is to a unity of the Spirit visible to the world in our peace with one another, so we walk together: together in humility, gentleness, patience, and love.

Sermon Passages: Galatians 5:13-18

In Christ, we have liberty - not license to do whatever we will - but liberty to walk by faith, to walk in a manner worthy, to walk by the Spirit free from the power and penalty of sin. One day in glory, it will not even be possible to sin, but for now we walk by the Spirit, letting the Spirit direct our thoughts, our conduct, our speech. Engage God early in the morning with a determination to walk in the Spirit this day; engage God in the afternoon with a determination to abide by His spirit and not by the lust of the flesh; engage God in the evening and late at night, determining yet again. When you think and meditate, determine to bring every thought into captivity and to think in the Spirit. As you engage other people, determine by God's grace to remain in the Spirit and not be led by the flesh. "Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57). He broke the power of canceled sin, removed the curse of the law, and gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit that we might walk in the Spirit, our hope a confident expectation that that God's Word is true, and His promise will not fail!
