Sermon Passages: 1 Peter 2:9-12
Godly community brings people into the kingdom of God. It's through community that people are sanctified, through community that the world is reached. We are to proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us, and we're to do this as a community.
Sermon Passages: Colossians 1:3-8
Regardless of the things of this world, faith deepens, love increases, hope abounds, and the Gospel advances. That is the power of the Gospel and proof that the Gospel is all we need. Thank you, Mark Prater, for an encouraging reminder of the Gospel growth that happens as we love God, love one another, and love our neighbors.
Sermon Passages: 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
We are called to humbly set forth the simple truth: 1) We are sinners in need of a savior. 2) Jesus is that savior, dying in our place and then rising again. 3) To be saved we must turn and trust in Christ, in the salvation he alone accomplished for us. Sharing the gospel need not be complicated. Simply share the truth and let the power of God do the work to save.
Sermon Passages: Ephesians 4:7-16
Sermon Passages: Matthew 28:16-20
In Matthew 28:16-20, the resurrected Savior and Lord of all gives His disciples in all generations their primary mission and purpose in this life: to "make disciples of all nations." Only He, the One to whom all authority in heaven and on earth has been given, can rightfully give such a command. He then concludes by assuring all who embrace this great task that they will never be alone in their endeavors.
Sermon Passages: John 4:7-14
Engaging People in Gospel Conversations: Sometimes it can feel like there are invisible barriers preventing us from having gospel conversations with unbelievers. We might feel awkward just being friendly and talkative with our neighbor or the person next to us in line. Attempt to add spiritual matters to that discussion, and the awkwardness increases tenfold. Add the gospel? A hundred fold! This last class will help equip us to break through such barriers and feel more confident in our ability to engage people in gospel conversations.
